Grant Program for Teacher Quality Partnerships

The Teacher Quality Partnership Grant Programs main objective is to enhance student achievement by providing professional development opportunities for K 12 teachers. This funded program aims to strengthen both teachers subject matter expertise and teaching skills with a special emphasis on mathematics and science.

In the year 2017 there were two projects funded by the Teacher Quality Partnership Grant Program;

Project IMS; Integrating CCSS Math into NGSS Science, conducted by the University of Hartford in partnership with the Connecticut Science Center. This initiative involves a two part summer institute along with sessions throughout the school year. The primary goal is to help middle school science teachers from Bridgeport, Hartford, East Hartford, Southington and Windham effectively incorporate math concepts into their science lessons using expert developed teaching materials.

Project NESSLIE (Year 3); Next Gen Earth and Space Sciences and Literacy Instruction Expertise, led by Central Connecticut State University in collaboration with the Connecticut Science Center. This project focuses on integrating science instruction with literacy practices through a summer institute and school year sessions. The aim is to empower middle school science teachers from districts, including Hartford, New Britain, Meriden and Waterbury to develop their own earth science units aligned with educational standards.
